Stevens Tabbed E8 Player of the Week

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College field hockey midfielder Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, NY/Whitney Point), a grad student, was selected the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 22.

The transfer from Lock Haven equaled a program single-game record with four goals in Saturday's 12-0 "Senior Day" shutout of visiting Elmira.

In her debut fall as a Gator, she tops the Conference in scoring with 39 points on 16 goals and seven assists.  

Stevens, already in the top four on the program's career scoring list, is three points and one goal away from tying the RSC single-season records.

The Gators (5-8/2-4 E8) close the regular season on Saturday at Nazareth. Start time is set for 1:00 pm.


Notes: Forward Sara O'Connor (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna), a grad student, is the program record holder for career points with 81 on 33 goals and 15 assists...She holds the Gators program record for most points in a season with 42 in 2019…O'Connor scored four goals in the 12-0 win at Wells on September 28, tied with forward Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), a grad student, and Stevens  for the most by a Gator in a single game…The trio occupy the first three spots on the RSC career goal scoring list and are three of the program's top-four career scoring leaders…Sophomore goalkeeper Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) (5-8) was selected the Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 8…She began the week with three shutouts, a program single-season record, and seven double-digit save performances.
