Skyline regular-season championship crown stays with Gators as win streak now at 20!

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College and the Panthers of Purchase College in a Skyline Conference tri-match at the Kahl Gym. Sage earned two more wins and in the process has extended its win streaks both overall and in the league, while also collecting the team's second straight Skyline Conference regular-season title. Sage has won 20 consecutive matches and owns a 24-4 overall record, while going a perfect 9-0 in the league and riding a conference win streak that is now at 22 wins. Sage's last conference loss was on October 3, 2012. The last league setback came on that date to Mt. St. Mary College, 3-1.

Sage's senior tri-captain Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added 10 kills with nine digs to pace the Gators in the win over MSMC, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20). Senior Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) connected for 15 kills and had four aces with a .393 attack percentage in the contest. She had three digs and one block assist. Sophomore outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) racked up three aces and 13 digs.

Sophomore setter and team tri-captain Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) led the Gators with her 30 setting assists and added five digs. Rookie defensive specialist Missy Scheiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) added seven digs. Seniors Jillian Schwab (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville Manlius) and Stacey Forte (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood) added to the team's success as well on Saturday. Schwab added two kills and a dig, while Forte had two kills, two aces and a dig.

Against the Panthers, Sage triumphed, 3-0 (25-3, 25-6, 25-13). Martin added six kills with a .556 attack percentage as the Gators combined for a .440 attack percentage in the contest. Liebig added 25 setting assists with 14 aces. Putriment added five kills and four digs, while junior Maggie Brenenstuhl (Melrose, NY/Hoosic Valley) added six aces and four digs with a perfect reception percentage in the action.

Wilder currently leads Division III in aces and now has 88 aces on the year and is climbing the single-season record book at Sage as she is now tied for the No. 3 spot on the list. Liebig has a personal-best 857 setting assists this year, elevating her career resume to include 1,301 setting assists and stands No. 5 on the Gator career record book.

Putriment leads Sage with 303.5 points on 266 kills and 306 digs and is closing in on the Gator career kill mark. She has 1,310 which is No. 2 only behind the mark set by Caitlin (CJ) Ostrowski with 1,411 (2004-2006). Putriment also now has 1,635 career digs and is five shy of moving into the No. 3 spot held by Kelsey Wilson (1,669, 2008-2011).

Sage returns to action on October 28 travelling to Oneonta State for a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
