Gators drop regular-season finale at Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Vassar College for a non-conference match on Saturday in the team's regular-season finale. The host Brewers posted the 3-0 win (25-18, 26-24, 27-25) to collect the victory and improve to 13-17. Sage drops to 23-6 on the season and plays next in the semifinals of the 2014 Skyline Conference Semifinals on November 7. The Gators will face the first round winner of the November 5 match between No. 4 College of Mt. St. Vincent and No. 5 Farmingdale State on November 7 at 5 p.m. in conjunction with the 2014 Skyline Conference Fall Festival at Purchase College.

For the Gators, senior Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) connected for 7 kills, while senior Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added 6 kills. Sophomore setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) led the Gators with her 22 setting assists, while rookie Missy Scheiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) added 7 digs and sophomore Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) added 9 digs.  Junior Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) added 4 kills with 2 solo blocks.

Putriment has now tallied 1,324 career kills and is closing in on the Gator career kills mark that is held by Caitlin (CJ) Ostrowski with 1,411 (2004-2006). Mango now has 192 career blocks, which is No. 4 all-time at Sage and Liebig continues her climb of the setting assist record as she has 1,323, which ranks No. 5 all-time.
