Gators slide past MCLA for 8th straight win; Putriment stands No. 2 all-time in career kills now

North Adams, MA – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Tuesday evening for a non-conference contest. MCLA won the first set, 25-22, but then Sage was able to take the next three sets (26-24, 25-7, 25-17) and collected the team's eighth straight win in the process. The Gators are now 11-4 on the year, while MCLA stands at 7-4.

Sage was paced by the play of senior Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) as she racked up a double-double with her 21 digs and 10 kills. Sage's sophomore setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) handed out 33 setting assists with an ace, two kills and four digs, while sophomore Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) had 14 kills with six digs and six block assists.  Sophomore outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) connected for a team-best 20 digs with an ace. Wilder leads the team with her 49 aces and 193 digs, while Putriment has a team-leading 133 kills with 151 points. She has elevated her career resume to include 1,177 career kills (No. 2 at Sage) as she moved ahead of Alison Archambault on Tuesday night (1,173 (2000-2003). Putriment also has with 1,506 digs (No. 4) and 102 aces (No. 14).

Sage returns to action on September 26 travelling to Skidmore College for a 5 p.m. contest with the Thoroughbreds.
