Trimblett names Skyline Rookie of Year; Five Gators honored

New York, NY –The Sage women's soccer team was honored on Monday with the release of the 2015 Skyline Conference All-Star Team. Sage which is 14-4 overall and finished league play this fall with an 8-1 mark and a share of the 2015 Skyline Conference regular-season crown, had five players named to the all-star team, while also producing the Rookie of the Year.

For the second time in the program's history, Sage had the league's rookie of the year freshman forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) earned the award.  Trimblett leads the team with 31 points on 11 goals and nine assists, while adding four game-winning goals. She was also named to the 2015 All-Star First Team for her play and was joined in the first team by senior goalie and forward, Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) and rookie defender Nicole Bauer (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) on the first team. Named to the Second Team were junior forwards Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) and Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park).

Trimblett is nationally ranked in seven different categories. She is 29th in the nation with her 0.60 assists per game average, while standing No. 58 in game-winning goals and No. 74 in total points. She earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors twice, while earning a spot on the weekly honor roll once.

Maher, who was named the Skyline Rookie of the Year in 2012 is now two-time first team honoree having also earned first-team honors as a rookie. A field player and the Gators' keeper, she leads a defensive unit as she is 13-2 in goal with 0.8 goals against average. On the season, Sage has now outscored their opponents by a 60-13 margin, while posting eight shutouts. With the release of the latest NCAA Division III statistics, Maher is ranked No. 70 in the country with her 0.800 goals against average. She has worked in goal in 15 of the team's games and has a .882 saves percentage with nine goals allowed in 1,014 minutes of work.

Offensively,  Maher has also seen time as a field player as a Gator, she continues to add to her resume as she now has 34 career goals (No. 3) with 18 assists (No. 2), and 86 career points, which is No. 3 at Sage. She has 16 points this season with 6 goals and 4 assists.

Bauer, who earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors in early October, has played in 18 matches and added one assist. The Gators are among the league's toughest defense, yielding just 13 goals for a 0.72 GAA.  The team ranks nationally in several defensive categories as well as No. 49 in win-loss percentage (0.778).

Lynch is the team's second leading scorer with 22 points on nine goals and has four assists. Lynch is now No. 11 in career points at Sage with 43 on 19 goals and five assists. She ranks No. 188 in total goals in Division III, while the Gators rank 15th nationally in total goals with 60.

Mason is the team's third leading scorer this season, having added 17 points on seven goals and three assists.

Mason moved into the No. 7 spot in the Gator career points list as she has 51 points on her 22 goals, which is No. 7 as Sage. She is nationally ranked in game-winning goals this season with three, while now connecting for seven career game-winners.

The 2015 Gators are enjoying the most successful season in the program's history both overall and in the Skyline Conference since first joining the league in 2007. The Gators bettered last season's victory high-water mark of 12 victories as they have 14 on the 2015 campaign, while adding eight league wins.

Sage, which is the No. 2 seed in the Skyline Tournament has earned a first round bye in the 2015 Skyline Conference tournament and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, November 4 at 1 p.m. against Mt. St. Mary College. The contest will take place at Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Complex with the winner advancing to Saturday's Skyline Championship and a shot at garnering the league's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships.
