No. 9 SJFC Overwhelmes Gators on Saturday

Pittsford, NY —Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team travelled to Western New York to face the No. 9 ranked Cardinals of St. John Fisher College. The Cardinals improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8 after beating the Gators, 24-1 on Saturday. The loss puts Sage at 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the league.

SJFC led 16-1 at the half as the Gators got a goal from rookie attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown). Queeney leads the Gators in scoring this spring with her seven points on six goals with an assist.

Graduate player Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) continues her climb in the program's career record book. She added one ground ball pickup and one caused turnover. She continues to add to her active career mark for most caused turnovers as she 70. She is currently second with her 122 career ground balls, while also ranking seventh in career points at Sage with 67 points on 47 goals and 20 assists. She is second all-time with her 20 assists, while her 47 goals in eighth best. She also boasts 122 career ground balls and is second on the career list behind Monica Koralus (125) and also second with her 125 career draw controls, behind Koralus who had 185 career draw controls.

In goal for the Gators, senior Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made the start and had three saves with 15 goals allowed in 23:20 minutes of work. Senior Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) worked 36:40 with three saves and nine goals allowed.

Sage returns to action on April 10 hosting Nazareth College in a 1 p.m. Empire 8 match-up.
