A letterwinner in three sports at nearby Troy High School, Lauren Cooney excelled scholastically in softball, volleyball and indoor track. She is a school record holder in four different track events and was honored with a spot on the 2010 Big 10 Conference Team as well as the all-area first team in softball.

She was named the recipient of the Coaches’ Award for her efforts in track and earned a spot on the High Honor Roll. A National Honor Society student, she is majoring in occupational therapy at Sage. She is the daughter of John and Christine Cooney and is a former prom queen and homecoming queen at Troy H.S.
