SUNY-IT Tops Sage in men's volleyball play

Troy, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team hosted the Wildcats of SUNY-IT on Tuesday night in the Neff Center. The Wildcats tallied a 3-0 win to improve to 8-9 overall, while Sage drops to 8-8 on the year. The Wildcats posted a 25-18 win in the first set, followed by a 25-20 and 25-20 in the second and third sets, respectively. The two teams will meet again on Thursday, March 3 in Utica as the Wildcats will host Sage.

For SUNY-IT, junior outside hitter Ryan Meller (Eden, NY/Eden Central) tallied 11 kills and 11 digs for a double-double. Freshman outside hitter Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had 10 kills with seven digs and five setting assists. Senior setter Jonathan Brochu (Latham, NY/Shaker) connected on 27 setting assists with seven digs and three kills. Sophomore middle hitter Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) added four serving aces with six kills and three digs in the match.

Sage's sophomore opposite Jake Douty (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) added eight kills with five digs. Freshman opposite Ryan Wilkins (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added six kills with a pair of digs, while sophomore Jeremy Mosch (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) added six kills with a digs. Rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added 17 digs in the contest, while sophomore setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) connected for 23 setting assists.
