THE RUSSELL SAGE COLLEGE ESPORTS REPORT

Submitted: September 29, 2024 for the period of: Monday, September 23 – Friday, September 27

Teamfight Tactics

Team Members: senior Brian Scimeca (Clifton Park, NY/South Glens Falls)

Date of Competition: Monday, September 23

Competition Details: The first week of action kicked off with Scimeca, who finished in to top-five in the ECAC last season, taking home 11 points...With great starts in both games, Brian could carry his lead later into the pool but, unfortunately, didn't hit as strong of a comp as some of the other players in his lobbies...Despite this, he still managed to end with a third and fourth place finishes...This puts him in 14th place on the overall leaderboard.

Valorant White

Results: Tuesday, September 24 vs. Louisiana Tech – Loss, 2-0

Competition Details: The opening map was Sage's choice of Sunset...They started on defense and came out strong with a 5-7 halftime scoreline only slightly behind the enemy team...RSC took the lead with a quick bounce back after halftime, going up 8-7 on their attack side...However, it all fizzled out for the Gators as they lost the first map 13-8...The second map took them to Lotus, where the Gators couldn't reset the momentum to start the game...They were down 9-3 on their defensive side of Lotus...With some adjustments in mind at halftime, RSC began to get hot again, but ultimately, it wasn't enough as they fell 13-5 to LTU...Duelist player Justing Startup totaled 27 kills.

Street Fighter 6

Team Members: Brandon Clarke

Results: Tuesday, September 24 vs. Kean - Loss, 4-0

Competition Details: It was a tough first matchup as Clarke took on one of the highest-performing players of last season, a representative from Kean University...The start of the season nerves, in combination with overall talented play, caused Brandon to struggle through the matchup.

Valorant Green

Results: Thursday, Sepetember 26 vs. Saint Francis, Loss 2-0

Competition Details: Valorant Green had a tough start to the season for the Gators, dropping two very close games to SFU...The Gators fell on Bind 13-7 and 13-10 on Abyss. Kaitlin Liu (Fort Edward, NY/New Hartford), a grad student, registered a total score line of 40/34/4.

Madden

Team Members: junior Thyon Nelson (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay School for Law)

Results: Thursday, September 26 vs. Kean– Win, 2-0

Competition Details: With his tried and true Baltimore Ravens, Nelson put up a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, defeating his opponent 55-30 in the opener...He ended the game with 350+ passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and collecting 4 interceptions...Although a much closer game, with clutch clock management in the final quarter, Nelson, playing as the Chiefs, took victory with a 38-35 scoreline.

Gator Bites: Now in its fourth season as a program, Russell Sage College competes in the ECAC. Students interested in joining the team can contact Head Coach Luke Martin at: martil11@sage.edu
