Albany, NY –Former Sage men's basketball player, Ryan Sager (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) has signed a contract to continue his international playing career. Sager has signed to play with the Luxembourg Telstar Hesperange Team-N2. Sager will make his debut on September 26 when his squad faces Racing Luxembourg-N2.
Last summer, he signed on to play as a member of the Terres Froides (Voiron, France) and played as a member of the NM3 League. As a member of that team, he averaged 14.7 points per game with 10.2 rebounds per game, He added 3.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game as well with a 64.3% field goal percentage, while shooting 35.7 from three-point range and 67.9% from the line.
Two years ago, he accepted a postgraduate scholarship from the University of East London and continued his basketball career internationally, while working towards his master's degree in finance. He played as a team member of the Westminster Warriors and averaged 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and shot 53.2% from the field. They are members of the England Basketball League - First Division.
He also played for the played for the University of East London (BUCS - First division). The squad was undefeated through the regular-season and earned a spot in the league championship tournament. The only contest they lost was in the semifinals of the Cup Tournament. Over the course of the campaign, he had a number of significant games, including a season-high of 36 points with 14 rebounds in one game.
Sager earned his masters' degree in financial management.
As a senior, Sager led the Gators with a blistering 60.6 % field goal percentage and hauled down a team-best 229 rebounds. He capped his career with his strongest showing in his three seasons in a Gator uniform with his 10.7 ppg and 8.5 rpg, while elevating his resume to a program-best 76 blocked shots with a 58.0% career field goal percentage. He added 713 points (No. 3 at Sage) with 521 rebounds (No. 2 at Sage). He was also ranked nationally this year after connecting on nine double-doubles.
