At Sage:

• Dan Mackey enjoyed a successful first year at Sage as a member of the men’s volleyball and tennis teams.

• As a member of the volleyball team in 2018, he saw time in 13 matches and worked in 16 sets as a rookie.

• In 2019 in volleyball, he played in every match, recording 54 digs in 78 sets played. A defensive specialist, Mackey had a .791 reception percentage.

• As a junior on the volleyball team, he finished the season nationally ranked in digs per set averages. He was ranked 186th in Division III, adding 1.77 digs per set, which was also 11th best in the United Volleyball Conference. He had 133 digs, while playing in all 75 sets in 2020.

• Through three seasons in volleyball, Mackey now has played in 169 sets in 62 matches. He has 189 career digs, while boasting a .854 career reception percentage.

• As a member of the tennis team in 2018-2019, Mackey went 1-4 in singles play holding down the third position in the singles ladder. He also played at third doubles for Sage in 2020 as the team collected a 2-9 record overall.

• Playing in the team’s lone match on the 2019-2020 season, he fell at No. 2 singles and also played at No. 1 doubles for the Gators.

 Academics at Sage:

• Dan Mackey earned a spot on the Empire 8 President’s List in 2017-2018 and again for the fall of 2018. He was named to the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team as well as a sophomore and again as a junior, while also earning Dean’s List acclaim every semester. He is also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

• He is majoring in health sciences with a path to physical therapy and was named the Phi Kappa Phi Award recipient.

• He is a candidate for the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large program for his success in the classroom and on the courts.

High School:

  • A three-sport stand-out at Greenville Central High School, Mackey earned acclaim as a member of the soccer, volleyball and tennis teams. A team captain in volleyball, he earned the Coaches’ Award and a sport on the all-star second team. In soccer, he was a first-team all-start and a recipient of the Coaches’ Award and helped to lead the team to a first place finish in the league and region as well as a NY State semifinalist showing. He was a two-time team MVP in tennis and served as a captain for two seasons as well. He is a National Honor Society student and earned Principal’s High Honor Roll status.
  • He is feature race winner at the Dodge City Speedway.
