AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Russell Sage College baseball finished their spring break trip to Florida with a 10-8 win over Marian University on Saturday morning. The win pushed the Gators to 5-4 during the week of action in the sunshine state.

RSC used a three-run top half of the ninth inning to edge the Sabres, which was headlined by a game-tying pinch-hit single from junior outfielder Brendan Espinal (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from junior outfielder Dom Caminitti (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) just a few batters later.

Four Gators filled the hit column with crooked numbers. Junior infielder Jeff Stearnes (Vergennes, VT/Vergennes Union) hit three singles and drove in two runs and junior outfielder Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain) had two singles and scored once. Outfielder James Lubanski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber), a grad student and junior outfielder Jared Russell (Colonie, NY/Colonie) each had 2-5 performances, scoring twice and driving in a run a piece.

Sophomore pitcher Nolan Sniffen (Ossining, NY/Ossining) secured his first victory of the year, punching out one in 3.2 innings of scoreless ball.

Marian threatened in the bottom half of the final frame, where a lineout with runners on second and third and two outs ended the contest.

Three-hit performances from junior Tyler Blum and senior Logan Rademan paced the Sabres, while junior Jacob Kleeman drove in two runs.

Senior pitcher Connor Medvecz is credited with the loss,  allowing three runs in his 2.1 innings of action.

Looking ahead, RSC (5-7) will venture back to New York after a five win campaign. The Gators have a break when they return before heading to Rochester for a doubleheader with St. John Fisher on Saturday, March 23.
