AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Russell Sage College dropped both ends of this afternoon's seven-inning doubleheader with Dominican University, played at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, Florida.

The Gators were edged in the opener 2-1.

Junior infielder Jeff Stearnes (Vergennes, VT/Vergennes Union) plated junior infielder Dom Caminitti (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) with the lone RSC marker with a third-inning single, part of a 2-for-4 effort. Down a run after the Stars (7-3) took the lead in the bottom half, the Gators had their chances to tie things, totaling 12 hits against three Dominican hurlers. However, the big RSC hit did not come today.

Junior pitcher Liam Doyle (West Sayville, NY/Connetquot) was the tough-luck loser (0-2) in the opener, allowing just four hits while going the distance on the mound.

Dominican took the second game 9-1, breaking things open with a five-run fifth.

Caminitti, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored during the twin-bill, stole home to account for the RSC run.

Senior outfielder Grayson Dowling paced the Stars across the sweep, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI.

RSC (4-7) wraps up its Florida trip tomorrow morning vs. Marian (Wisc.).  First pitch is slated for 9:30 AM.
