Gators Face off with Gordon in Tuesday Morning Matinee

DAVENPORT, Fla. – Russell Sage College baseball lost 7-4 to Gordon Tuesday morning in its third day of spring break action.

The Gators pushed across two runs in the top of the 8th inning in a comeback attempt but fell short.

Junior outfielder Brendan Espinal (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) showed out with a four-for-five afternoon where he scored two of the Gators' four runs.

Juniors Jeff Stearnes (Vergennes, VT/Vergennes Union),  Jorge Oropeza (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena High School), Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain), and Zachary Figueras (Apopka, FL/Windermere) all knocked in a run in the effort.

The majority of the work on the bump was done by Nolan Sniffen (Ossining, NY/Ossining). The sophomore went 4.2 innings punching out three.

Gordon College gets their first victory of the season in the contest. A three-RBI, three-hit day from CJ Demers led the Fighting Scots offensive output. Four pitchers combined for seven strikeouts in the win.

Looking ahead, RSC (2-7) is back for a breakfast matchup with Thomas College on Wednesday at 9:45 AM.

Gator Bites: Coming off a trip to the Empire 8 conference tournament championship, the Gators are looking to continue to build in their third year as a program.
