ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College has announced the promotion of Kyle Young (Branford, Conn.) as its Director of Athletic Communications, effective November 29, 2023.

"It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Kyle Young to our Director of Athletic Communications position,” said Director of Athletics Jim Lyons.  “Kyle has proven himself to be a highly productive and truly dedicated member of our team during his three years at Russell Sage.  I am excited to work closely with Kyle and to watch first hand as he transitions into this new leadership role within our department.  He has been a fixture in the Capital District athletic communications community, and those connections and his experience will be a major asset to Russell Sage and our student athletes."

Young joined the Gators’ staff in August of 2021 as the first-ever Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and served as the Acting Director of Athletic Communications following the passing of the legendary Ann King in September 2023.

"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the Director of Athletic Communications at the Russell Sage College,” said Young. “I want to thank Jim Lyons, Trish Cellemme, Erica Li, and the entire RSC Athletics staff for their efforts during the search process and look forward to the bright future of our Gator athletic programs.”

Young arrived at Russell Sage College after serving as the Coordinator of Athletics Communications at The College of Saint Rose for four and a half years.  Working with the Golden Knights student-athletes and 19 varsity teams, he helped to streamline the use of NCAA LiveStats for the basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams, while also hosting numerous Northeast-10 and NCAA Division II Tournaments and events.

He came to Saint Rose having worked in the athletics communications offices at both Yale University and Southern Connecticut State University, and also served as a Box Office Teller at the then-Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Young was the primary media contact for the nationally ranked Yale men's lacrosse program and held a similar position for the men's soccer, men's basketball, baseball, and swimming and diving programs at Southern Connecticut State. He was furthermore the media and statistics coordinator for the 2014 NCAA Division II East Regional and NE10 men's basketball tournaments.

Young completed internships with the Connecticut Tigers, The Culinary Institute of America, the Tri-City ValleyCats, and the Springfield Falcons. He also volunteered for the 2014 NCAA Women's Frozen Four, the NY/NJ Super Bowl Committee, the 2010 New Era Pinstripe Bowl Street Team, the NCAA Women's Basketball Albany Regionals and the MAAC Basketball Championships.

The Branford, Connecticut native graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sports management from Springfield in January of 2011. He currently resides in Albany with his wife and two children.
