New York, NY---The Sage Colleges men's and women's soccer teams had players honored on Monday afternoon with the release of the weekly players of the week.

On the women's side, Sage's rookie midfielder Nicole Maher (Glen Cover, NY/Saint Dominic) was tapped as the Co-Rookie of the Week. She helped to propel Sage's women's soccer team to a 7-0 win over NYU-Poly in the team's 2012 Skyline Conference opener as she scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner. She leads the Gators with her 11 points on 5 goals and an assist. She was named the Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Week.

Sage's men's team has now won seven matches in a row and is 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference. Sophomore midfielder Kenny Barnes (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) was selected as the Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Barned provided the game-winning goal to help lift Sage's men's soccer team past NYU-Poly on Saturday afternoon. The goal is his second of the season and helped the Gators to the 7th straight win in the process.

Also recognized by the Skyline Conference with a selection to the weekly honor roll, was rookie goalkeeper, TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon).  He racked up a win in the team's lone match of the week, a 2-1 win over NYU-Poly after making five saves. He is now 5-1 in goal for Sage with a 0.87 goals against average.

Sage's men's team will host defending Skyline Conference Champions, Maritime College on Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m. at Colonie Central High School. The Gator women's team will also be in action the same day with a 5 p.m. Skyline Conference match at Maritime College.
