UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College was swept 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14) by host SUNY Poly this afternoon.
Senior opposite Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) and freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) topped the Gators with nine kills apiece. Fox tallied six digs while Occelin registered a .250 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Jack McWilliam (Fishkill, NY/Arlington) tallied team-bests of 23 assists and eight digs in the New England Volleyball Conference setback.
Junior outside hitter Jason Aubury (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shen) paced SUNY Poly (11-11/2-0 NEVC) with nine kills on .533 hitting and eight digs.
The Wildcats hit .303 as a team across the three frames.
RSC (5-14/0-4 NEVC) plays next on Wednesday at Bard.
Gator Bites: 2024 marks the Gators first as members of the New England Volleyball Conference…League coaches picked RSC, under the direction of Reid Hartl, to finish sixth in the NEVC…The roster, which has six returnees from last season, boasts plenty of local flavor with eight student-athletes hailing from Section 2…Hartl, now in his third season, added seven newcomers to the roster, including four freshmen…Four grad students are the roster, including co-captains: libero Deshawn Fleary, (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), and outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central)…Fox was selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week twice this spring…He earned the accolade for the periods ending January 21 and February 11...Occelin topped the Gators with 32 kills, 3.20 per-set, and 16 digs across three matches this week...He added four total blocks and two aces...Fox tossed in 20 kills on .205 hitting and 12 digs during the 1-2 week.
