RSC Falls to St. Thomas Aquinas in Saturday Afternoon Non-Conference Matchup

HILLBURN, N.Y. – Russell Sage College was swept this afternoon in a non-conference matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas. 

Freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) had seven kills, seven digs, and hit .211.

Sophomore setter Connor Murphy (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) registered 14 assists, while freshman middle hitter Michael Bruyette (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) contributed three blocks. 

St. Thomas Aquinas (1-7), a Division II program in its first season, was led by freshman outside hitter Gabriel Viereia, with nine kills, three digs, and a .533 hitting percentage

Freshman setter Kyran Versteegen and freshman middle blocker Dario Caviglia both added four kills for the Spartans. 

Looking ahead, RSC (0-5) has a week off before hosting Regis and Houghton for a tri-match on February 10th. 


Gator Bites: 2024 marks the Gators first as members of the New England Volleyball Conference…League coaches picked RSC, under the direction of Reid Hartl, to finish sixth in the NEVC…The roster, which has six returnees from last season, boasts plenty of local flavor with eight student-athletes hailing from Section 2…Hartl, now in his third season, added seven newcomers to the roster, including four freshmen…Four grad students are the roster, including co-captains: Deshawn Fleary, a grad student, (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), an opposite, and outside hitter Jarod Martel, a grad student, (Albany, NY/Colonie Central).
