Gators Sweep Non-Conference Doubleheader at Fisher

BOSTON – Russell Sage College swept both ends of this afternoon's non-conference doubleheader at Fisher College. The Gators (4-6) took the opener 25-9, 25-13, 25-16 and the second game of the day 25-16, 25-11, 25-15.

A trio of RSC players registered double-digit kills in the road victories, while seven tallied at least five.

Freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie), the reigning New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Week, led the way with 18 total kills on .571 hitting. 

Freshman opposite Spencer Cooper (Albany, NY/Colonie) contributed 14 kills on .346 hitting, 11 aces, and 11 igs, while senior opposite Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) recorded 10 kills, 13 digs, and seven aces.

Sophomore setter Connor Murphy (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) dished out 37 assists, while junior setter Jack McWilliam (Fishkill, NY/Arlington) handed out 26 helpers.

The Gators aced 31 serves, hit .348 as a team, and held Fisher (0-11) to -.071 hitting.

Freshman outsider hitter Owen Novelli and junior outside hitter Ethan Marshall topped Fisher with six total kills each.

RSC plays next on Wednesday at Dominican. Opening serve is slated for 7:00 pm.


Gator Bites: 2024 marks the Gators first as members of the New England Volleyball Conference…League coaches picked RSC, under the direction of Reid Hartl, to finish sixth in the NEVC…The roster, which has six returnees from last season, boasts plenty of local flavor with eight student-athletes hailing from Section 2…Hartl, now in his third season, added seven newcomers to the roster, including four freshmen…Four grad students are the roster, including co-captains: Deshawn Fleary, a grad student, (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), an opposite, and outside hitter Jarod Martel, a grad student, (Albany, NY/Colonie Central)…Freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) was selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week twice this spring…He earned the accolade for the periods ending January 21 and February 11.
