ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College concluded its campaign on a high note by defeating visiting Houghton 73-66 this afternoon.
Senior guard/forward Jackson Brown (Latham, NY/Catholic Central/Fredonia State), one of two Gators recognized before the Empire 8 Conference matinee, led the Gators with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He registered 13 of his points after the intermission and grabbed six rebounds to help RSC (10-15/3-13 E8) hold off the visiting Highlanders.
Fellow "Senior Day" honoree, forward Tahirou Hamidou (Bronx, NY/Carolina Basketball Academy/Livingstone) contributed eight points, 13 rebounds, and five assists, while junior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls), who entered the contest ranked seventh in the E8 in scoring, added 16 points.
Junior guard Preston Thomas paced Houghton (7-18/5-11 E8) with 13 points and nine boards. He was one of four Highlanders to score in twin figures.
