ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College never trailed in this afternoon's 63-59 home win vs. Elms.
The Gators (2-0), which led by 17 early in the second half before holding off a late Blazer charge, had three players score in twin figures.
Senior guard/forward Jackson Brown (Latham, NY/Catholic Central/Fredonia State) topped all participants with 18 points.
Junior forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) contributed 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, eight rebounds, and two steals, while junior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) registered 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
Guard Tahquell Cabel, a graduate student, provided Elms (0-2) a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. He added five assists and two steals.
Leading 31-21 at the break, RSC increased its advantage to 17 with 15:00 remaining. Elms slowly crept back into the non-conference matinee, getting within one, 53-52, with 2:51 to go. The Gators answered with a 6-0 run to help secure the Saturday afternoon victory.
RSC opened its season with three home games. The run concludes on Wednesday at 7:00 pm vs. Castleton.
