ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College erased a 2-1 deficit to edge host SUNY Cobleskill 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-4) on Tuesday night.
A trio of Gators registered double-digit kills, with two recording double-doubles, in the comeback road victory.
Senior outside hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) topped all participants with 15 kills on .464 hitting.
Junior defensive specialist Savannah Petersen (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) added 14 kills on .321 hitting, 15 digs, and three aces, while junior defensive specialist Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) contributed 12 kills and 12 digs.
Sophomore setter Emma Freidel (Utica, NY/New Hartford) ran the RSC offense to the tune of 46 assists and a .212 team hitting percentage.
Senior outside hitter Alexis Miranda paced SUNY Cobleskill (1-6) with 13 kills on .300 hitting, while freshman outside hitter elevated 15 Gator attacks and aced seven serves.
Looking ahead, RSC (5-3) hosts Skidmore and Nichols on Friday night.
Notes: The fall marks the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins '87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC…Defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY / Albany), a grad student, surpassed 1,500 career digs on Sept. 9 at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational...She started the week fifth in school annals with 1,525 career digs…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
