ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's Empire 8 Conference doubleheader at Nazareth. The Gators took the opener 4-3 in nine innings and dropped a high-scoring second contest 12-10.
Junior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) delivered RSC with what proved to be the game-winning run with an RBI single in the ninth. She had two hits in both ends of the twin bill and totaled two RBI and two runs scored.
After going extras in the first game, the squads combined for 28 hits and 22 runs in the nightcap. Trailing Nazareth (4-18/2-6 E8) 12-4 through four, RSC scored six runs in its final three at-bats, including three in the seventh, before falling.
Ring was one of four Gators to have multiple hits in the second game.
Junior infielder Abigayle Campbell (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) paced the RSC offense with three hits, three runs scored, a homer and four RBI.
Senior outfielder Isabella Vano (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and freshman infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) each added two hits and an RBI.
Nazareth sophomore outfielder Maddy Spakoski registered multiple hits in both games, part of a 5-for-9, three RBI effort.
Looking ahead, RSC (6-16/2-4 E8) hosts Alfred for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
