Ring

CLERMONT, Fla. – Russell Sage College softball split their Saturday morning doubleheader, the second of six doubleheaders they will play in the next week. The victory in game two marks the first victory in the young career of head coach Stephanie Reinhardt.

Neumann bettered the Gators in game one, crossing the plate in four different frames to defeat RSC 6-2.

Sophomore catcher Emma Heartquist (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) hit three singles, while freshman outfielder Bella Julian (Cicero, NY/Cicero North-Syracuse), junior infielder Emma Anderson (Tolland, CT/Tolland), and sophomore infielder Amber Banas (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) each added one.

Junior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) contributed the lone run batted in for RSC on a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the second inning.

Sophomore pitcher Leah Madore (Williamsville, VT/Brattleboro Union) went five innings striking out two in the loss.

Neumann University used a complete game from senior Ashlynne Scardino to secure their first victory of the season.

Seven Knights found their way into the hit column, with three contributing multi-hit games.

Junior outfielder Bri Reim had two hits including a triple while driving in a run. Senior Kristen Pagliaro and sophomore Alyssa Celi each had two runs batted in.

In game two, the Gators took advantage of a four-run second and a six-run fifth to achieve the big first for Coach Rienhardt over the Cobbers of Concorida-Moorhead by a score of 10-7.

Four different Gators ripped run-producing hits in the second inning. Freshman infielder Allison Kenyon (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), freshman infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont), Julian, and Ring helped to kick off the ten-run effort for the Gators.

Freshman outfielder Gianna Lenartz (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) popped the Gators' first home run of the season. The 5th inning game-tying shot preceded another RBI hit from both Julian and Ring to conclude the scoring on the afternoon.

Freshman Zoe Moroughan (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) got the nod in the circle for the Gators, going six innings, punching out four Cobbers on the way.

The Cobbers were highlighted by a three-hit and two-RBI performance from sophomore outfielder Kailee Falconer. Sophomore Mallory Leitner is credited for the loss on the afternoon.

Looking ahead, RSC (1-3) continues their Florida action with a doubleheader against Fontbonne and Penn State New Kensington on Monday.
