RSC Softball Squares Off in Another Spring Break Doubleheader

LEESBURG, Fla. - Russell Sage College Softball played their fifth and sixth games in four days on Tuesday on their spring break trip in Florida.

The Griffins of Fontbonne (3-4) were led by junior pitcher Hailey Kutz in the 4-0 victory over RSC.

Kutz no hit the Gators, punching out 17 in the contest. The lone baserunner for the Gators came on a walk to sophomore infielder Amber Banas (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties).

In game two, the Gators showed life on offense but fell 10-4 to Penn State New Kensington.

Senior outfielder Isabella Vano (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) produced two hits and drove in a run. Banas, junior infielder Abigayle Campbell (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central), and freshman outfielder Bella Julian (Cicero, NY/Cicero North-Syracuse) each produced scores as well.

The Nittany Lions saw a 3-4, two RBI performance from Linda Shepard, who's 4th inning two-run shot pushed the edge over the Gators to eight. The freshman also got the start in the circle, striking out one over her 5.1 innings of work.

Looking ahead, RSC (1-7) has a day off on Wednesday before returning for a doubleheader with Allegheny and Penn State Behrend on Thursday.
