Glenmont, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team hosted the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday afternoon. The Gators tallied a 6-0 win to improve to 6-1 on the season, while SLC drops to 1-2.
The Gators took a 2-0 halftime lead as sophomore defender Tyler Denton (Saquoit, NY/Saquoit Valley) converted his shot at the 12:336 mark for his second goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) put the team up 2-0 with his goal at 23:23 on a feed from Denton.
Sage opened the second half with a goal at 47:37 as junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) scored on a pass from junior Kris Kallenbach (Bristol, CT/Bristol Central). Junior midfielder David Gould (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort Schulyer Central) scored for the Gators at the 57:51 mark. Jarosz scored his second goal on the afternoon and now leads Sage in scoring this fall with his eight goals and 16 points. Defender Matt Flaherty (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) connected on the final goal for the Gators at the 77:32 points of the match.
In goal for the Gators, freshman TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) made no saves in net en route to recording a shared shutout with junior Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown), who played the last 25 minutes of the action. SLC's senior Trevor Wallace (San Anselmo, CA/Cate School) recorded six saves for the Gryphons with goals allowed.
Sage returns to action on September 18 travelling to Union College for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest. Sarah Lawrence College will face Albany Pharmacy on Sunday, September 16 in a 3 p.m. match-up.
