Glenmont, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team hosted the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex. After a scoreless first half, Sage put together a strong second half and posted a 4-1 win. For the Gators, they have won three straight matches and are now 3-1. Cobleskill drops to 0-1-1 on the year.
Cobleskill took a 1-0 lead when freshman Schuyler Broadwell (Spakers, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) converted a feed from sophomore Josh Fontaine (Brookline, VT/Leland and Gray) at the 45:56 mark of the contest.
Nearly 11 minutes later, the Gators tied the action as sophomore midfielder Kenny Barnes (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) scored his first goal with Sage. Junior Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) broke the 1-1 tie with his first of two goals in the contest on a feed from sophomore Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) at the 68:17 mark.
Miranda would put the Gators up 3-1 with a penalty kick at 69:31 before Jarosz tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season and the second of the match at 71:45 on a pass from junior David Gould (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort Schuyler Central).
In goal for the Gators, junior Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) picked up the win to improve 2-0 on the season after he made three saves. Cobleskill's senior goalie Mack Curran (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) took the loss after making six saves with four goals allowed in the match.
Sage returns to action on September 9 travelling to face Skyline Conference opponent, Yeshiva University is a 4 p.m. start and will take place at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY. SUNY-Cobleskill hosts Castleton State also on Sunday at 2 p.m.
