Gators post win over MSMC at Sage Spring Invitational

Green Island, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's golf team hosted a dual match with the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College on Monday afternoon at Van Schaick Island Country Club.  Sage won the competition after shooting a 330 for the day, while the Knights posted a 368 at the competition.

MSMC's freshman Owen Heath (Jamestown, RI/North Kingstown) was the medalist after posting a round of 74 for the day.

Top scorer for the Gators was senior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hill-Ballston Lake) who shot a 78, while graduate performer Jeff Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) posted an 80 for the day.  Rookie Kevin Johnston (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) carded an 85, while senior captain Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was next for Sage with an 87. Junior DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) shot a 90, while  senior Jennifer Zoufaly (Latham, NY/Shaker) carded a 91. Senior Sarah MacArthur (Ancram, NY/Taconic Hills) added a round of 100 for the Gators.

For the Knights, Heath led the day with his 74, while junior Steven Etherton (Lawrenceville, NJ/Princeton) shot an 87. Senior Anthony Bollella (Brewster, NY/Brewster) had a score of 100 for the event, while junior Trevor Kane (Stamford, CT/Stamford) had a 107.

Sage closes the 2013-2014 season on Tuesday, April 22 travelling to Massachusetts to compete at the Elms College Trailblazer Invitational.
