Sage falls short at Purchase dual meet

Greenwich, CT – The Sage Colleges' men's golf team travelled to the nearby Tamarack Country Club, a par 70 6,709 yard course and faced Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College in a dual match. The Purchase Panthers edged out the Gators 311 to 320.

The Panthers were lead by rookie Camden Fix, who's 72 (34-38), with two birdies paced the team to finish first.  Sage senior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hill-Ballston Lake) finished in second place after posting a 75 for the day (36-39), while senior captain Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) and rookie Kevin Johnston (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) tied for fifth place with a round of 80 for the day.

Junior D.J. Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added an eighth place finish on a round of 85, while senior Gerard Beaudin (Delmar, NY/Home Schooled) picked up 10th place after firing a round of 95.

Both teams will be in action on October 20 and 21 at the 2013 Skyline Conference Championship, which will take place at the Beth Page Red Course. The league champion will garner the conference's automatic berth to the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship. A year ago, Sage picked up the runner-up trophy falling to defending league champions, Farmingdale State in the second day of the two-day event.
