McDonald sets all-time saves record as Gators fall from Skyline Conference Tournament on Sunday

Medford, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team travelled to St. Joseph's College on Sunday afternoon for a Skyline Conference Quarterfinal match. The host Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's posted a 5-0 win to advance to the semifinals to face top seeded Mt. St. Mary College on November 2.

Sage wraps their 2011 season with a 6-8 record, while St. Joseph's improves to 10-8-1. The 2011 appearance for the Gators in the conference playoffs marks the team's fifth straight Skyline Conference Tournament appearance.

St. Joseph's Victoria Hassett provided the spark for SJC as she had four of the squad's five goals.

The contest marked the final contest for a pair of Sage seniors, forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) and goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont). Marszalek wraps her career as the all-time leading goal scorer at Sage (52 goals) and total points (115), while ranking sixth in career assists (11), fourth in career games started (65), and eighth in career games played (66).

McDonald finished the day with ten saves and finished the year with 92 saves. Overall on her career, she finishes as the program's all-time career saves leader as she moved ahead of Bernaderre Stephanowski (1994-1997, 338) on Sunday afternoon and finishes with 340 saves. McDonald's career goals against average of 1.40 ranks second all-time at Sage, while her 4,052 minutes of work is third best and 46 games started in net is second best.
