Cabrini tops Sage in title match, 2-0

Bryn Mawr, PA---The Sage Colleges women’s soccer team traveled to Pennsylvania to compete in a kickoff tournament hosted by Bryn Mawr College. The Gators faced Cabrini College in the championship game, only to fall 2-0. Sage stands at 1-1 on the year, while Cabrini is 3-0.

The game was scoreless through the first half of play before Cabrini’s Alex Tralie scored what would be the game-winner at 62:57 on a feed from Annmarie Kolla. One minute later Cabrini’s Sammy Thompson scored an insurance goal on a pass from Dana Nardello at 63:57.

In goal for the Gators, was Sage’s senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) as she made a season-high 10 saves in the contest. Cabrini’s Gianna Porretta made four saves in the contest in posting her second shutout win of the tournament.

Tralie earned tournament MVP honors for her efforts. Sage placed three players on the All-Tournament squad as senior defender Sarah Briggs (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), McDonald and senior defender Amanda Potter (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) were all named to the team for their play over the course of the weekend.

Sage returns to action on September 11 on the road at SUNY-Potsdam in a 1 p.m. non-conference match.
