Killeen explodes to lead Gators to a 3-0 win over Sweet Briar

 

Bryn Mawr, PA---The Sage Colleges women’s soccer team traveled to Pennsylvania to compete in a kickoff tournament hosted by Bryn Mawr College. The Gators faced Sweet Briar College (VA) on Saturday in the opening round of the tournament and tallied a 3-0 win over the Vixens to advance to the championship game on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. against Cabrini College. Cabrini advances to the title game after handing Bryn Mawr a 1-0 loss.

Sage’s junior forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) would connect on the game winning goal just 6:13 into play on a feed from senior Nicole Killeen (Petersburgh, NY/Berlin Central). The goal would be the 30th of Marszalek’s career, moving her to within one goal of the No. 2 spot on Sage’s career scoring list. She now has 10 career game-winning goals as well as 65 career total points, moving her into third place on the career points list.

Killeen added two goals and an assist to finish the day with five points. Killeen scored the second goal at 18:47 on a feed from senior midfielder Laura Tisinger (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and put in her final goal of the match unassisted at 35:05 give Sage a 3-0 halftime lead.13-4 Killeen is coming off a junior season where she connected on just one goal and an assist. With Saturday’s efforts, she now has 15 goals and five assists on her career for 35 total points.

In goal for the Gators, was Sage’s senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) as she earned her first solo shutout of the year after turning away four shots she faced. The shutout is the seventh of her career after recording six a year ago for the Gators.
