Pearson Tapped as Skyline Rookie of the Year and Bowman named to First Team

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team was well represented with the release of the 2013-2014 Skyline Conference Women's Basketball All-Star Team. Rookie Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, while junior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) was placed on the Skyline Conference All-Star First Team.

A four-time Rookie of the Week selection, Pearson is averaging 9.5 points in just 20.1 minutes per game as Sage has won a program-record 15 contests and is facing Purchase College on February 27 in the semifinals of the Skyline Championship. The freshman guard averaged 10.3 points in league action and leads the Gators with 36 three-point field goals.

Pearson becomes the first Sage women's basketball player saluted as the league's Rookie of the Year. With 15 wins, an active Sage record for most victories in a season, Sage stands at 15-9 after finishing with a program-best 10-4 record in conference play and finished in a tie for second place, another high-water mark for the Gators.

Pearson, who leads the team in three-pointers with 36, which ranks among the Top 10 in single-season performances. She has played in all 24 games and has 25 assists and 25 steals on the season. She earned a spot on the Skyline Conference Second Team for outstanding play as a Gator.

Bowman leads Sage with her 12.0 ppg average and has also handed out a Sage single-season record 130 assists with 66 steals. She ranks No. 25 in Div. 3 in assists per game (5.4), while ranking No. 48 in the latest NCAA stats ranking in assist to turnover ratio (1.86) and No. 71 in steals per game (2.75). She stands 14th in scoring in the league, while ranking third in assists and fifth in steals.

She now has 307 career assists which ranks No. 2 all-time on the Gator career list.  She has 175 career steals and is now ranked No. 6 at Sage. She has racked up 656 career points in 66 games played at Sage and has tallied 35 career 3-pointers, which ranks 16th as well.
