Pearson honored by Skyline Conference as Rookie of the Week

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team was well represented with the release of the weekly Skyline Conference awards as newcomer Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, while junior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) was placed on the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Last week, Pearson scored 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting on as the Gators beat cross-town rival, RPI 83-76. She added four rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals and has now taken home two Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week awards.

Bowman was also placed on the Honor Roll for the second time this season after she added 13 points against RPI, which dishing out five assists.

On the year, the Gators are 3-3 overall and return to action on December 5 travelling to Hartwick College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match-up with the Hawks.

Pearson has a 6.8 ppg average in six outings, while adding a 2.3 rpg average with 11 assists and 10 steals on the season. Bowman, who also ranks nationally (No. 51) with her 5.2 assists per game average, now has 30 this season. On her career, she now has 207 assists and is at the No. 7 spot. She moved ahead of Elizabeth Pearl (200, 1987-1991) last week and now has her sights set at moving into the top 5 before week's end.

Also among the national leaders is junior center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) as she has nine blocks shots and ranks first in the Skyline Conference with her 1.6 blocks per game average, while ranking 113th in Division III. The career block leader at Sage as a sophomore, she continues to add to her resume that now includes 108 blocked shots.
