Nwanna's 17 points paces Gators past NYU-Poly

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team traveled to NYU-Poly on Tuesday night for a Skyline Conference game. The Gators posted a 78-69 win to improve to 12-8 overall and 8-5 in the league. NYU-Poly drops to 3-15 overall and 1-10 in the league.

Junior guard Troy Nwanna (Washington, DC/Mercersburg Academy) added 17 points to lead the team, tying his career best in making the start. Rookie Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) and junior Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) added 12 points each, while graduate performer Jeff Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) added 11 points with seven assists and two steals.

Sophomore Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added eight points, while leading the Gators with his nine rebounds,  

Brendan Gallagher added 21 points to lead the Jays, while Jethro Auguste had 16 points with seven rebounds.

The Gators will be back in action on February 8 hosting St. Joseph's College (LI) in a Skyline Conference game at Kahl Gym with a 3 tip. The day will also be filled with plenty of activities showcasing "Summer at Sage" opportunities.
