Sage's Ryan Sager to play internationally

Albany, NY – Former Sage men’s basketball player, Ryan Sager (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) has taken another step in his basketball career. Sager has accepted a post-graduate scholarship from the University of East London and will continue his basketball career, while working towards his master’s degree in finance.

He will be competing as a member of the BUCS league, the British Universities and Colleges Sport. Sager will be part of one of the leading sports teams at University of East London (UEL). The school boasts great indoor facilities at SportsDock, which provide a great environment for basketball players wishing to play in East London. The club is entering an exciting phase in its development with a full-time coach which will help further the develop of the sport at UEL.

As a senior, Sager led the Gators with a blistering 60.6 % field goal percentage and hauled down a team-best 229 rebounds. He capped his career with his strongest showing in his three seasons in a Gator uniform with his 10.7 ppg and 8.5 rpg, while elevating his resume to a program-best 76 blocked shots with a 58.0% career field goal percentage. He added 713 points (No. 3 at Sage) with 521 rebounds (No. 2 at Sage). He was also ranked nationally this year after connecting on nine double-doubles.

Sager is planning on participating for one season at UEL and is hoping to utilize his international experiences to garner a position ultimately as a professional basketball player overseas.
