High-Powered Houghton Offense Proves to be Too Much for Gators

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Russell Sage College fell 4-2 at Houghton this afternoon.

Midfielder Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, NY/Whitney Point), a grad student, scored both RSC goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) (Loss, 3-5) stopped 12 Houghton shots. The Saturday Empire 8 Conference matinee marked the sixth time this fall that Caron made at least 11 saves.

Junior forward Bekah Davie, topped the Highlanders (8-1/3-0 E8), which entered the day outscoring opponents by a 40-5 margin, with two goals and an assist.

Junior forward Jace Hunzinger, the NCAA leader in assists per-game, added a goal and two assists. She now has 46 career assists, the most ever by an E8 player.

The Gators (3-5/0-2 E8) host Hartwick on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. 


Notes: Forward Sara O'Connor (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna), a grad student, is the program record holder for career points (77), goals (32) and assists (13)...She boasts two of the top-five single-season scoring campaigns, including a program-best 42 points in 2019...O'Connor set the RSC single-game standard with four goals in the 12-0 victory at Wells on September 28...The output was good for second-most by the Gators in a game (13 - September 27, 2019 vs. Wells).
