Albany, NY—Russell Sage College's women's volleyball team hosted the Highlanders of Houghton College on Wednesday night in an Empire 8 contest. Houghton posted the 3-0 win (25-19, 25-20, 25-20) and improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the league. RSC falls to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Junior middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane) added nine kills with 9.0 points. Junior Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) racked up six kills with eight digs and 6.0 points.
Sophomore defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany) had 21 digs with an ace, while senior defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin Perth) connected for eight digs with two aces.
Rookie Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson) had four kills with a .667 attack percentage in the contest, while junior setter Francesca Gigliotti (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) had 12 setting assists with five digs. Senior Renee Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) picked up three kills with a pair of digs.
Houghton's sophomore outside hitter Jenna Bittinger (Lewisberry, PA/Northern York) led the way for the Highlanders with her 17 kills, five digs, two aces and a .333 attack percentage. Junior setter Haley Unverdorben (Cuba, NY/Portville) had 26 setting assists with six digs and five kills, while sophomore Rebekah Clark (Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford) had 18 digs with four setting assists in the match.
RSC is back in action on April 3 hosting Alfred University in a single Empire 8 match at 2 p.m. in Kahl Gym in conjunction with Senior Day.
