Sage falls to Golden Bears, 6-3 in women's tennis play

Springfield, MA – The Sage College's women's tennis team travelled to Western New England University on Monday afternoon for a non-conference match with the Golden Bears. WNEU triumphed 6-3 and improves to 2-1, while Sage drops to 1-3.

For the Gators, Sage's senior co-captains Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was a winner at No. 1 singles, besting WNEU's Lauren Sell. Senior Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) added a victory as well at No. 3 singles, beating Christina D'Agostino in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 10-6 in the super breaker.

Ackerman and sophomore Erin Duffy (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) were winners for Sage at No. 1 doubles in the match. Ackerman is now 4-0 this fall in singles competition and 34-3 on her Sage singles career, combined with her doubles play, she now owns a combined career record of 61-11.

Sage returns to action on September 10 travelling to Castleton State for a match at 4 p.m.
