Gators Deliver Johnson First RSC Win

UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College had four players register hat tricks in this evening's 18-11 non-conference win at SUNY Poly.

Senior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), who was announced as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week yesterday, tallied six goals on ten shots to lead the offense.

Senior attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) contributed three goals, three assists and nine draw controls. With the output, she became the fourth Gator to surpass 100 career points.

Senior midfielder Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior attacker Aimee Rodriguez (Colonie, NY/Colonie) also recorded hat tricks, helping Matt Johnson secure the first victory of his RSC ledger.

In the back, sophomore goalie Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) turned aside a dozen Wildcat shots, while freshman defender Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth) caused a pair of turnovers.

The Gators, which led 7-3 after the opening period and 13-5 at the break, out-shot their hosts 39-27 and went 19-of-32 on the draws.

Senior attacker/midfielder Kaite Kopcza paced SUNY Poly (1-1) with six goals.

RSC (1-2) is home on Saturday at 1:00 pm vs. Castelton.


Gator Bites: The spring marks the first with Matt Johnson at the helm of the Gators…Ten players, including eight starters, return this season…Hines began the season ranked second in school records in both points and goals…She became just the second Gator to score 100 career goals vs. Marywood on March 3…Hines was announced as the E8 Conference Player of the Week honors the next day for her seven goal, one assist performance…Queeney is on pace to break the program record for career draw controls early during the campaign…She started the spring just 23 away from the RSC standard.
