Knockwood and Pearson pace Gators in 10th straight victory

Patchogue, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team travelled to St. Joseph's College (LI) for a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday. Sage posted a 62-44 win to collect the team's 10th straight victory. Sage improves to 11-2 overall and remains unbeaten in the league with a 7-0 record. SJC drops to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Sage led 35-14 at the break and never looked back en route to the key Skyline win as junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) finished with 18 points, while junior forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) finished with 16 points.

Pearson racked up six three-pointers in the contest and just missed tying the single-game three-pointer record of 7. She vaulted to the No. 2 spot on the Gator all-time three-point list. She entered the game with 98 three pointers and was No. 5. After her effort on Saturday, she now has 104 career three's and moved ahead of Kelly Murphy (103, 1999-2002). She is within striking distance of the program's all-time three-point leader, Carly Vallee (126, 2009-2013).

Knockwood shot a blistering 8-12 from the floor and added seven rebounds to aid in the win with a pair of blocked shots. She is currently fourth all-time with 57 blocks.

Sage sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) was held to just eight points, snapping her streak of double-digit scoring that had grown to nine straight games. Schoff, the team's leading scorer has tallied double-digits in 11 of the team's 13 games, while adding a 15.1 ppg average.

Sage returns to action on January 12 hosting Mt. St. Mary College in a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference contest in Kahl Gym.
