Sage women top RPI in Kahl, 56-53

Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted Rensselaer's women's team in a non-conference match-up in Kahl Gym on Tuesday night. Sage collected the 56-53 win to improve to 3-2, while RPI drops to 2-3.

Sage led 28-23 at the break and by game's end got 14 points from sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) as she had a double-double with a career best 15 rebounds. Junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) and rookie guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannamora, NY/Saranac) each finished with 10 points.

For the Engineers, rookie guard Sam Krumbhaar (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) finished with a game-best 18 points and hauled in a team-best eight rebounds.

Down the stretch, RPI pulled within one point three times in the final quarter (50-49, 2:41, 52-51, 1:35 and again at 0:11, 54-53).

Krumbhaar hit a layup at 1:35 to pull her squad within one point, 52-51. Sage's rookie Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) went to the line in the final minute and hit all four of her free throws to preserve the win for Sage.

Sage hosts Southern Vermont College on Monday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Kahl Gym, while RPI is back in action on December 1 on the road at Keene State for a 6 p.m. match-up.
