Riverdale, NY –The Sage College's women's basketball team travelled to the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference contest. The host Dolphins posted the 74-57 win to remain unbeaten in the league as they are now 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The loss puts Sage at 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Gators were led by rookie forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) as she poured in a career-best 18 points and connected for six rebounds in the contest. She bettered her previous high of 13 points from the Gators' win over Hartwick (12/4/14).
Sage's senior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) added 13 points, while senior forward Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) tallied eight points with nine rebounds, three blocks, three steals and four assists to assist Sage. The program's No. 2 all-time rebounder, Jefferson now has 654, but holds the all-time block record as she has 143.
Bowman who is climbing the all-time record book as well, now has 847 points which is good enough for No. 7 at Sage. She has also handed out 379 assists (No. 2 all-time) and picked off 213 steals (No. 3). She need just two more career steals to move into the No. 3 spot, ahead of Mary Leary (214, 1980-1983).
Senior Carlee Hirt (Beacon, NY/John Jay) added eight points with five rebounds and a pair of blocks as well for Sage.
Kelly Fraser had a team-best 20 points with seven boards to lead the Dolphins on Thursday night.
The Gators are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 17 travelling to St. Joseph's College (LI) for a 1 p.m. road Skyline Conference contest.
