Reyes-Alvarez earns second straight Skyline Scholar-Athlete of the Year citation

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's cross country team was honored on Tuesday with the announcement of the 2014 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year.  Sage's men's team captain, Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) was named the Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Reyes-Alvarez earns his second consecutive Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor.

At the 2014 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships, he became the program's first three-time Skyline Conference First Team All-Star. He posted a time of 29:22.27 to finish in fifth place. On his career, he also finished in fifth as a rookie in 2012 and last year took home third place.

A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in each fall sport is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the fall semester in the sports of soccer, cross country, women's tennis, men's golf and women's volleyball. 

He is majoring in business at Sage and is Dean's List student having also earned acclaim as a three-time Sage Scholar-Athlete honoree. Active on campus, he is the president and founder of the Green Club, while also working as a student creative writer for Sage's Athletic Communications office. He is a two-time Sage Gator of the Year honoree for the men's cross country team as the squad's Most Valuable Performer.
