ECAC and Skyline Player of the Week status awarded to Sage's Kai Deans

Albany, NY –For the second straight week, Sage's senior tri-captain Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Gators to a 2-0 week. He was also selected as the ECAC Corvais Division III Metro Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts.

Deans averaged 27.0 points with 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks as Sage earned a pair of league victories over Yeshiva (82-53) and Farmingdale State (85-59). He shot a blistering 18-of-25 from the field and 18-for-20 from the foul line and scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 11 boards on December 2 at Yeshiva. He backed up that effort with a game-high 25 points and added nine rebounds on December 6 versus Farmingdale State.

Deans is leading the Gators this season with his 18.7 ppg average and has started all seven games this year. He is averaging 27.7 minutes per game with a red-hot 60.8% field goal percentage and an 87.2& performance from the free throw line. He has also hauled in 55 rebounds with a 7.9 rebound per game average.

He has already scored 489 career points with Sage in his time as a Gator and is poised to connect his 500th career point early in the new year, becoming the fifth player in program history to hit the plateau.

The Gators are 6-1 on the year with a 2-0 mark in Skyline Conference play marking the best start in program history. Head Coach Brian Barnes will lead his Gators into action again on January 3, 2015 when they visit SUNY-Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference contest on the road.
