Volleyball splits results on opening night at Oswego Tournament

Oswego, NY--The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team was back in action on Wednesday night with a non-conference match at SUNY-Cobleskill. The Gators posted the 3-0 victory over Hartwick College in the first round (25-17, 25-14, 26-24). Sage then faced SUNY-Canton but fell, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16).  The Gators are now 6-5 on the year.

Against Hartwick, senior middle hitter Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) had nine kill four total blocks. Senior right side Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added seven kills with three digs and two blocks.

Junior libero Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) tallied 17 digs in the action while sophomore defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) tallied 20 digs in the action.

Junior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) picked up five kills, while junior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) had two aces with 26 setting assists with six digs. Junior Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) tallied 27 setting assists with three solo blocks.

Against Canton, the Gators sophomore middle hitter Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) tallied six kills with a block assist, while Robinson racked up five kills. Wilder added 20 digs with Scheiderman added 12 digs in the action. Liebig added 22 setting assists, while mango had three kills with an ace.

Sage is back in action on September 19 competing at the Oswego State Tournament with a pair of matches against Utica College and D'Youville College.
