Tapped for the second straight year to serve as a Sage women's volleyball team captain, Micaela “Mickey” Mango will be looked to for leadership on and off the court this season. She was instrumental in the team’s Skyline Conference Championship run and helped the program garner an NCAA bid in 2014, a feat they are looking to achieve in 2015 as well!

She played in 97 sets through 32 matches and posted 152 kills, marking her third straight season with 150 or more kills. She also had 11 aces with 40 digs and 55 total blocks.

Prior to her junior season she played as a member of the Italian Challenge, a 10-day travel and competitive experience that took place in Italy, June 7-16.  She competed over the summer of 2014 as member of the volleyball team that will compete as part of the Italian Challenge with stops in Venice, Florence, and Rome, Italy.

As a sophomore, Mickey played in all 36 matches and racked up 170 kills with a 1.42 kills per set average. She added 25 digs, while leading the team with her impressive 82 total blocks. She had 48 solo blocks with 34 block assists and average 0.68 blocks per set on the season, which ranked second highest in the Skyline Conference in 2013.

As a rookie, Mickey Mango was twice named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll for her efforts in helping the team to an 8-1 conference record and the No. 2 seed in the league’s 2012 tournament. She played in 113 sets in 33 matches as a rookie and had 167 kills with 45 digs. She had an impressive 60 total blocks as well, with 32 solo blocks on the campaign as she averaged 0.53 blocks per set in 2012. The 82 blocks ranks No. 10 in Sage’s single-season record book as well.

She has now tallied 489 career kills on her career and is poised to move into the Top 10 on Sage’s career list this season. Mango also has 197 career total blocks and starts the 2015 season ranked No. 5 on Sage’s career list, while her 0.60 blocks per set career average ranks No. 5 at Sage.  She has helped the program throughout her career and has played in 101 matches at the start of her senior season, while performing in 330 sets and has a 1.48 career kills per set average with 110 career digs.

A Suburban Council Honorable Mention pick in volleyball, she came to with an impressive resume. She was the 2011 Saratoga Springs team MVP as a senior after also ranking in the Top 10 in blocks in the NYSPHSAA.

A National Honor Society Student, she was also named to the Honor Roll all four years at Saratoga Springs High School.

A nursing major at Sage, she is the daughter of Michael and Jean Mango.  She was named to the 2013 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team both 2013 and 2014, while also garnering selections to Sage’s Scholar-Athlete Team. She has also been honored as a Kellas Scholar and was honored in the Spring of 2015 as a member of Sage’s Athletic Honor Society.
