Wilton, NY – Sage's women's tennis team hosted the Panthers of Purchase College on Saturday in a Skyline Conference match held at the Saratoga YMCA. Purchase collected a 5-3 win to improve to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the league. Sage falls to 2-11 overall and 1-6 in the league.
Sage's senior co-captain Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) collected a win at No. 1 singles as she beat Purchase's Emma Yavel, 7-5, 6-3. Sophomore Lindsey Tolman (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) was a winner at No. 5 singles over Maggie Lavin, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 3 doubles, Tolman teamed with sophomore Samantha Dibbell (Hunter, NY/Tannersville Central) for an 8-5.
Sage's senior co-captain Melissa Estremera (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) played at No. 2 singles, but with a time limit on the court use, the match was unfinished after Estremara won the first set, 7-6 (8-6), but trailed 5-3 in the second set to Purchase's Erika Fulton.
The Gators are back in action on Sunday as they host Utica College in a 1 p.m. match that will be played at Court Time in Latham, NY.
