Gators fall at Skylne Foe, Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team travelled to Farmingdale State College for the Skyline Conference opener on Saturday. The host Rams tallied a 7-2 win to improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league. The loss puts Sage at 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the Skyline.

Sage's junior Kirsten Ackerman (Rensselear, NY/Guilderland) was a double winner as she posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jessica Sickles at No. 1 singles. She boasts a 5-0 record at No. 1 singles this fall. She teamed at No. 1 doubles with senior Nicole Riley (Catskill, NY/Catskill) to post the team's only other win as they beat Sickles and Priscilla Signore, 8-1. Ackerman and Riley are now 5-0 with one another this season in doubles play.

After Saturday's win in singles action, Ackerman is now 18-0 lifetime at Sage in dual match singles play and 19-1 overall in singles as a Gator and is this week's reining Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. She went 3-0 this past week in singles play and 3-0 in doubles competition for the Gators.

Sage returns to action on Monday, September 16 hosting the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose at Prospect Park in a match commencing at 4:30 p.m.
