Another Empire 8 Award for Sage's Bowman

SAGE'S KAITLYN BOWMAN SALUTED AS EMPIRE 8 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW

Hilton, NY–Sage's women's basketball performer, graduate player Kaitlyn Bowman (Chateaugay, NY/Saranac) was named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts last week, marking her second straight citation from the conference.  Bowman is coming off an impressive performance that capped her three games last week as Sage posted three Empire 8 victories. The Gators are 7-7 overall with a perfect 3-0 Empire 8 record on the year.

Bowman, a starter in three games last week for the Gators, added 47 points with 38 rebounds, with 18 assists a pair of double-doubles. She shot 46.0% from the floor (16-35) and averaged 36.5 minutes per game as well. She added a double-double with 16 rebounds and 12 points in the team's road win over Utica. She backed that up with 15 points and five assists in the win over Hartwick and the next day picked up a second double-double as the Gators beat Elmira after she had 20 points with 17 rebounds.

Sage's Bowman continues to edge closer to her 1,000th career point as she is now 11th on the scoring list with 867 having moved ahead of Wendy Kuhn (666, 1988-1992). Bowman also has tallied 695 career rebounds, which is fourth. She has also now handed out 244 assists ranking eighth behind her older sister, Megan Bowman. Megan Bowman holds the career assist mark with 458 during her career that spanned from 2011-2015. Kaitlyn Bowman has also now played in 96 games at Sage with 93 starts and is now seventh having moved ahead of her older sister in career games played.  

She has racked up 12 career double-doubles with three this season. Her numbers on the 2019-2020 season include 11.6 ppg with 8.4 rpg in 14 starts. She leads Sage with 64 assists and has 14 steals and leads the team with her 33.5 minutes played per game this year.

Sage will be in action on January 17 hosting Nazareth College in a 7:30 p.m. Empire 8 contest in Kahl Gym.
